Donis Marie Wilson, 90, of Gonzales, went to her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 24, 2020. Donis was born Aug. 31, 1929 in Enid, Okla. to Albert Lowell Hoopingarner and Donis May Scott Hoopingarner. She married Forest Lee Wilson on Jan. 5, 1947 in the First United Methodist Church. Donis was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Widow’s Club, which she founded, the Naomi Bible Study Class and she had been active with the WMU and the Garden Club.

Donis moved from Enid and eventually to Gonzales with her family. Her dad managed American Poultry and Egg in Gonzales and Donis worked as his bookkeeper. After marrying Forest Lee Wilson, Donis moved to Corpus Christi and lived there until her husband retired and they moved back to Gonzales. They were both active in the First Baptist Church with Forest serving as a Deacon. Donis was a loving and doting wife, mother and friend. Her faith was steadfast and true, and she dearly loved her bible study class and worshipping at the First Baptist Church. She loved to read and write letters and notes. There was a genuineness about her that drew people to her, and lasting friendships followed.

Donis Marie Wilson is survived by her son, Forest Scott Wilson of Gonzales, grandsons, Kyle Wilson and Ryan Wilson and his wife Heather and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother Albert Dwight “Sonny” Hoopingarner.

A memorial service celebrating the life and faith of Donis Wilson will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or Hermann Sons Cemetery Association. Friends may leave their condolences and share a memory of Donis by visiting www.seydlerhillfuneralhome.com. Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
