Clarence Charles Vyvjala

Clarence Charles Vyvjala, 90, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2020. He was born in Smithville, TX on November 4, 1929 to Henry and Albina (Michalik) Vyvjala. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He married Marian Brom in Moulton, TX on November 5, 1955.  They had two children, Cindy, and Michael.  

After he graduated from Smithville High School in 1947, he began his lifelong printing career. He started with the Smithville Times newspaper. Then he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served two years during the Korean Conflict. After the war, he continued his printing career at the Shiner Gazette. Prior to his marriage, he moved to Gonzales and worked at The Inquirer and lived at The Alcalde Hotel. In 1976, they opened Quality Print Shop. He enjoyed visiting and providing all his customers with their printing needs.  He took pride in designing his work and was very particular. He is remembered by many local businesses and families for his printing services. Clarence retired in December 2009.    

Clarence is survived by his wife Marian, daughter and son-in-law Cindy and George Stickle III of Smithville, TX. Also, his son Michael of Gonzales, TX. One granddaughter, Hannah Stickle of Smithville, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Patsy Janacek and brothers, Ivan, and Leo Vyvjala.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 from 5:00 to 6:30 pm at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Rosary will begin at 6:30pm. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2020 in St. James Catholic Cemetery at 10:00 am. Pallbearers will be his nephews. Prior to the service a horse drawn hearse processional will be at 9:30 am from the parking lot of Seydler Hill. Memorials may be made to St. James Catholic Church or the St. James Cemetery Fund.  Due to current CDC and State mandates, protective measures regarding social distancing, limited attendance capacity, and use of personal protective masks will be required for the visitation, rosary, and graveside burial rite. Those remotely symptomatic of Covid 19 are politely asked not to attend. Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
