Posted

At its meeting set for 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, the Gonzales City Council will hear public comment regarding the application for a Texas General Land Office Community Development Block Grant to make improvements concerned with flood mitigation.

The grant application, which is publically viewable on the city's website, concerns different projects which address previous flooding as a result of Hurricane Harvey in 2017. The City is seeking public comment submissions regarding these projects, to ensure that they are "in line with environmental regulations, affirmatively further fair housing activities, and, if applicable, minimizing displacement of persons by project activities." The council will receive public comment through Oct. 19.

Comments can be submitted by email to the City Secretary at citysecretary@gonzales.texas.gov, or by mail at:

City of Gonzales, c/o City Secretary, P.O. Box 547 Gonzales TX 78629-0547

The council will also be discussing items such as city holidays, the purchase of an updated brush truck as the current one has "serious engine damage and is not worth the cost to repair," the purchase of updated electric meters, discussion and possible action concerning the position of municipal court judge, and authorizing the use of Jail Square for 2020 Winterfest.
