BROWN

Carol Ann Cox Brown, 77, of Gonzales, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017.  Carol was born November 22, 1939 on her grandparent’s farm in Wrightsboro, Texas.  She graduated from Gonzales High School with the Class of 1958.  Carol married Wayne Brown on December 24, 1958 in Gonzales.  She was a member of Seydler Street Church of Christ and had been a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was a two time past president of the Gonzales Pilots Club.

Carol’s family was living at her grandparent’s family farm when she was born as her father was serving in the military at the time of her birth.  Growing up in the country Carol loved to play in the chicken houses and spent a great deal of her time outdoors.  As a student in Gonzales High School, Carol was a member of the Orange Jackets and she worked at Knight’s Department Store after school and on Saturdays.  She married the love of her life 6 months after graduation and went to work for Judge Patterson as a legal secretary.  She later worked for Judge Henry Vollentine as his legal secretary.   She had taken some courses to study Business Contract Law to enhance her working knowledge as a legal secretary.  Carol also studied to obtain her real estate license, but never pursued a career in real estate as she chose to work beside her husband at the family owned WB Farm and Ranch Supply business.

Carol was a stunning beauty, but her beauty ran much deeper than her features.   Carol’s inner beauty was the light within that sparkled through her eyes and warmed hearts through her smile.  She was an amazing loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was mom to her children, Nana to her grandchildren and keeper of her husband’s love and admiration.  Carol was passionate about family as she was always willing to get down on the floor and play with the little ones and never missed her children’s or grandchildren’s functions.  She spoiled her grandchildren and reveled in doing so.  She was a strong woman who genuinely believed there was nothing she couldn’t handle and gentle enough to show kindness and generosity to all people.  Carol loved music and dancing.  She delighted in taking long drives listening to her favorite songs and having been a member of a few dance clubs Carol and Wayne literally waltzed across Texas.   Certainly Carol is dancing still; she lived life abundantly through her faith, work, family, laughter and love and to paraphrase a Garth Brooks song, she never missed the dance.

Carol Ann Brown is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Brown, daughter, Lisa Treasure Kotzebue and her fiancé Michael Anthony Lawler, son and daughter-in-law, Wesley Keith Brown and Rosie, brother and sister-in-law, Robert Louis Cox and Cookie all of Gonzales, sister and brother-in-law, Sandra Bruce Bennett and Donald Joe of Lockhart, grandchildren, Chase Kotzebue, Cassidy Kotzebue, Caleigh Kotzebue, Austin Brown and fiancé Jessica Garcia, Dakota Brown, Brandon Brown, Eric Hull, Kirstie and Kevin Kuntschik and Ceci Brown, great-grandchildren, Hailey, Wesley, Zachary, Ryan, Greyson, Easton, Gatlyn, Colt and Beau.  She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Wesley Erick Brown and a sister, Vesta Sue Bias.
