Cardinals shut out San Marcos Baptist

SAN MARCOS — Shiner St. Paul (7-3, 5-1) finished out their regular season with a 45-0 win over the San Marcos Baptist Academy Bears. The Cardinals were able to take advantage of big plays in the first half, scoring 38 points, three touchdowns that were runs of over 40 yards.

In the first quarter, Conor Kresta had a 41-yard rush for a score. Later, Austin Barton found Ryan Bell for an 11-yard touchdown pass. Tre’Zell Jenkins-Perry busted out a 51-yard touchdown run. Then in the second, Kresta again had a long run, this time of 43 yards for a score. After the defense scored on a safety, Barton had an 18-yard run to give the Cardinals the 38-0 lead. Joseph Natal added to the score with a three-yard run early in the third quarter.

Kresta finished the game with 100 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Barton had 88 yards and a score. Jenkins-Perry had 85 yards and a score. Natal had 10 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, Barton went 4-for-7 passing for 30 yards and a touchdown. Bell caught two balls for 10 yards and a score.

Shiner St. Paul are home for their first playoff game, taking on Marble Falls Faith (5-5, 2-3) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
