Cardinals outscore Hyde Park in second half for win

SHINER — Shiner St. Paul held on in the first half, but then outscored their opponents 21-6 in the second to beat the Austin Hyde Park Panthers 42-26 at home.

After ending the first quarter down 14-13, the Cardinals finished the half up 21-20. In the third they ended with a 35-26 lead before adding another seven in the fourth quarter for the 16-point win.

Conor Kresta led the way with 22 rushes for 303 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught a pass for 49 yards. Joseph Natal added 13 rushes for 78 yards and two receptions for 19 yards and a score. River Haynes had seven rushes for 23 yards, while completing 3-of-6 passes for 68 yards and a touchdown. Tre’Zell Jenkins-Perry rushed 10 times for 15 yards and a touchdown, a seven-yard run.

Shiner St. Paul are on the road, taking on Brentwood Christian for their district opener, with kickoff scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
