Cardinals named to all-state, all-district teams

The Shiner St. Paul Cardinals football players earned multiple postseason honors along their way to their fourth state championship in the last five years.

Making it to the TAPPS Division IV all-state football first team offense were lineman Weston Geiger, quarterback Kai Giese, running back Zak Johnson, tight end Atley Pilat and athlete Noah Boedeker.

Named to the second team were lineman Luke Darilek, running back Carson Reese and kicker Sam Benes. Wide receiver Austin Davis was honorably mentioned.

Making it to the all-state first team defense were lineman Luke Darilek, linebacker Carson Reese and defensive back Zak Johnson.

Named to the second team were lineman Ted Machacek, linebacker Noah Boedeker and defensive backs Kai Giese and Gerard Nuñez.

District 3-Div. IV also announced their first and second teams last week. Named to the first team offense were linemen Weston Geiger and Luke Darilek, quarterback Kai Giese, running backs Zak Johnson and Carson Reese, wide receiver Austin Davis, tight end Atley Pilat, athlete Noah Boedeker and kicker Sam Benes.

Named to the second team were linemen Ted Machacek and James Fikac and wide receiver Gerard Nuñez. Honorably mentioned were linemen Elliott Peters and Matthew Malinovsky, wide receivers Trent Brown and Jacob Spann and tight end Kade Leist.

Named to the first team offense were linemen Luke Darilek and Ted Machacek, linebackers Carson Reese and Noah Boedeker and defensive backs Zak Johnson, Kai Giese and Gerard Nuñez.
