Cardinals dominant in season opener

BRYAN — Shiner St. Paul opened their season with a whopping 57-14 win over the Bryan St. Joseph Eagles as the limited the Eagles to 212 yards on offense, while gaining 403 yards themselves.

Conor Kresta led the team in rushing, carrying the ball seven times for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Joseph Natal ran six times for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Tre-Zell Jenkins-Perry ran four tiems for 42 yards and two touchdowns and River Haynes ran once for 18 yards and a score. Haynes also went 1-of-2 in passing, a 48-yard touchdown pass to Jacob Darilek.

Eagles’ quarterback John Najvar completed just six passes on 32 attempts for 136 yards. He also threw two touchdowns and one interception.

The Cardinals did their scoring in the first two quarters, ending the first half up 50-7.

Shiner St. Paul take on Flatonia at home on Friday, with kickoff scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
