Cardinals advance after stellar run performance

SHINER -- In a game with nearly 650 combined rushing yards, it was Shiner St. Paul who came away with the victory as the home Cardinals took down Legacy Prep Christian Academy 48-14.

Leading the way for St. Paul was Joseph Natal who found the end zone five times, carrying the ball 15 times for 177 yards. Natal scored three times in the second quarter with touchdown runs from five yards out, 22 yards out and eight yards out.

Carson Reese added 10 rushes for 48 yards and a touchdown to the stat sheet while Zak Johnson had four carries for 60 yards and a score. St. Paull ball carriers combined for 399 rushing yards.

Defensively, the Cardinals recovered three fumbles while the Lions recovered two. Legacy Prep’s Sam Branack returned a fumble for a 75 yard touchdown return.

The win advances St. Paul to round of eight where they take on Beaumont Legacy Christian Academy (6-4).

The game is set for Friday, Nov. 23 at Woodlands Christian. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
