Bruce Glynn Brown

Bruce Glynn Brown passed away with loved ones by his side at his home in Bastrop on June 23, 2020, after a 3-year battle with cancer. He was born in Luling, Texas, on December 8, 1952, to Fred Tyre Brown, Sr. and Patsy Brown Eckols. Bruce enjoyed growing up in the Belmont area with his extended family.

Bruce graduated from Gonzales High School in 1971 and began a lifelong career in the poultry hatchery and egg production business. His first job was with Cal-Maine in Gonzales, Texas. He successfully worked for other poultry companies in Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Arkansas, Missouri and most recently in Nebraska for Hendrix where Bruce was involved in the development and construction of an $18 million egg hatchery facility. He was well respected in his field and enjoyed his work.

Bruce married his wife, Debbie, on February 6, 1999, after meeting her at the bank in Berryville, Arkansas. They enjoyed 23 loving years together with Debbie being his devoted caretaker during his illness.

Bruce is preceded in death by his father Fred Tyre Brown, Sr., his step-father, Lewis Eckols, and nephew, Laval Brown. He is also preceded by his grandparents.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Brown; his mother, Patsy Eckols; brother Fred Tyre Brown, Jr. (Sandra); sister MLee Brown (Mary Alice); and sister, Donna Brown Willis (Bob). His children include Michael Durrett (Holli), Russell Durrett (Stacy), Lucas Brown (Amber), Bryan Brown and Andrea Brown. He is also survived by stepdaughters Jennifer Barker (Chad) and Christina Dobson (Michael). He had 9 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren. He is also survived by his niece Rachel Wilchester (JJ) and nephew, Ty Pirkle, as well as Debbie’s siblings, Rev. Edward Ferguson, Scott Killingsworth, Tina Martin, Sherry Smith and Ricky Ferguson. Another special family member was his and Debbie’s dog, Xander.

Because of the current COVID situation, a private graveside burial is being planned. Friends may leave their condolences and share their memories of Bruce with the family by visiting www.seydlerhillfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be made to the Belmont Cemetery Association, 12298 Highway 90-A West, Gonzales, Texas 78629 or to a charity of your choice.

Due to current CDC and State mandates, protective measures regarding social distancing, limited attendance capacity, and use of personal protective masks will be required for the graveside burial. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, Gonzales, Texas.
