Bennie Holland Hedrick has fought the good fight, she has finished the race and she has kept the faith. Now there is in store for her the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to her on that day—and not only to her, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.

Bennie died Jan. 18 at the age of 89. Private graveside services were held at George West Cemetery with Gary W. James, minister of Spiro, OK Church of Christ, officiating.

Bennie is a member of the Church of Christ. She was born to Bud (DL) Holland and Mae (Burkett) Holland, September 8, 1927, at Clegg, Texas in Live Oak County.

Bennie married Kennith Hedrick on June 10, 1952 in Corpus Christi, TX.

Survivors include a son Ken (Joann) Hedrick of Gonzales, TX, four daughters, Karen Hedrick Hanys of Victoria, TX, Glenda Hernandez of George West, TX, Nancy (Gary) James of Spiro, OK and Terrie (Bill) McConnico of Pflugerville, TX, one brother James Edward Holland of Beeville, TX, two granddaughters, Amanda (Will) Williams of Sweeney, TX and Brandy Shipman of George West, TX, two grandsons Daniel (Lizzet) Dobie of Three Rivers, TX and Ryan McConnico and fiancé Khayla Soto of Houston, TX; 15 great-grandchildren, April Aviles, Madison Taylor, Tyler Taylor, Mason Taylor all of Sweeney, Zachariah Shipman, Olivia Shipman, Logan Shipman, Giana Shipman all of George West, Madison Dobie of Carlton, TX, Cora, Alexis and James Lopez, Bronson Dobie and Riley Dobie of Three Rivers, TX and one great-great-granddaughter Zoe Rae Baker of Brazoria, TX. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and two special caregivers Gail Thorne and Flo Blundell both of Gonzales, TX, and a host of friends.

She is now reunited with her husband Kennith Hedrick, parents Bud and Mae Holland, three brothers D.L. Holland, Elmore Holland and Gene Holland, three sisters Ethel Rouse, Agnes Work and Tula Mae Hughes and two infant sisters Jewel and Opal.

Bennie worked at Roma Memorial Nursing Home in Three Rivers for 19 ½ years. She loved working with the elderly. After leaving the Roma Nursing Home due to her health, she worked many jobs caring for the elderly in their homes.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Hospice of South Texas, 605 East Locust Ave, Victoria, TX 77901. Arrangements under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home 906 St. Paul, Gonzales, TX.
