Be a Texas voter: Register to vote

Deadline is coming quick for citizens who want to become Texas voters in time for the Nov. 6 election. Instructions in Spanish are below (Instruccions para votar abajo.)

Unregistered voters have until Oct. 9 in order to vote in the general election on Nov. 6. Early voting for that election is from Oc. 22 – Nov. 2, with a mail-in ballot request received by Oct. 26 and mail-in ballot received back by Nov. 6.

There are a handful of Voter ID requirements needed in order to register to vote.

Use on of the following, if you have it (may be expired up to four years; For voters age 70 or older, no limit on expiration of ID):

•Texas Driver License

•Texas Election Identification Certificate

•Texas Personal Identification Card

•Texas Handgun License

•US Military ID Card with a photograph

•US Citizenship Certificate with a photo

•US Passport

If you do not have and cannot get a valid photo ID, sign declaration form and present one of the following documents:

•Valid voter registration certificate

•Certified birth certificate (original)

•Current utility bill

•Bank statement

•Government check

•Paycheck

•A government document with voter’s name and address

Note:

•Addresses on ID and registration card need not match

•Election officials/poll workers may not question you about voter ID issues.

•Licencia para portar armas

•Idnetificación con fotografía del servicio military estadounidense

•Certificado de ciudadanía estadounidense con una fotografía

•Pasaporte de los Estados Unidos

Si no tiene una idnetificación con fotografía, puede firmar una forma y presenter uno de los siguientes documentos:

•Registro de votante actual

•Certificado de nacimiento original

•Recibo de servicos públicos actuals

•Estado de cuenta del banco

•Cheque del gobierno

•Cheque de su empleador

•O cualquier otro document que tenga su nombre como votante y dirección

Nota:

•La dirección de su indentificación y tarjeta de registro de votante no tiene que ser la misma

•Los oficiales en las lugares de votación electoral pueden no preguntarle o solicitor su identificación
