Average gasoline prices climb for first time in three weeks

GONZALES – Average retail gasoline prices in Texas have risen 0.9 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.28 per gallon over the weekend.

Including the change in gas prices in Texas during the past week, reported prices as of Monday were 18.0 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 8.0 cents per gallon lower than one month ago.

The national average has increased 0.9 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.52 per gallon. The national average has also decreased 8.3 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 21.0 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.

Historical gasoline prices for the first week in March, in Texas, have ranged widely over the last five years: $2.10 per gallon in 2017, $1.59 per gallon in 2016, $2.24 per gallon in 2015, $3.21 per gallon in 2014 and $3.58 per gallon in 2013.

In Gonzales gas prices at five major retail outlets average $2.18(.6) per gallon. Buc-ee’s, Circle K, H.E.B. and Walmart are selling gasoline at $2.19 per Gallon, while Texaco is still the best deal in town at $2.17 per gallon.

Areas near Gonzales show a similar gas price climate, with San Antonio at $2.21 per gallon – up 3.2 cents per gallon from last week's $2.17 per gallon; and, Austin with gas averages of $2.26 per gallon – up 1.1 cents per gallon from last week's $2.24 per gallon.
