The Gonzales Apaches boys soccer team will be hosting their first-ever tournament from Jan. 4-5, with the championship game set for Jan. 5 at 7:40 p.m.

As of press time, teams invited to the tournament include Columbus, Floresville, Smithville, Yoakum, La Grange, El Campo, Canyon Lake, Giddings, Lampasas, Pleasanton and Bandera. The Apaches will round out the 12-team, double-elimination tournament.

The tournament provides the Apaches a chance to kickoff off the season against playoff-contending teams as well as an up-close look at two district opponents in Yoakum and Pleasanton.

Opening game is at 8 a.m. between Columbus and Floresville. The Apaches will play the winner between those two teams at 12:40 p.m. If they win, their next game would be Saturday at 9:10 a.m. A loss sends them to the loser’s bracket where they play at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The bracket is available below.

After the tournament, the Apaches will travel to Boerne on Tuesday, Jan. 8, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
