Apaches named to academic all-state team

Five Gonzales football players were recognized by the Texas Army National Guard and the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) as 2018-19 Academic All-State recipients.
Named to the second team were Matthew Almaraz, Seth Gibson and Vicente Reyna. Both Christopher Box and Zach Davis were honorably mentioned.
The THSCA Academic All-State teams recognize high school athletes who excel in their GPA, class rank and ACT/SAT score. To be nominated, a student must be:
- An athlete, student trainer or manager in good standing with the team
- Of good moral character
- A senior
- Have an overall grade point average of 92 or above (including courses from grades 9-1 and courses completed from grade 12). Weighted GPAs accepted.
