Anne Havlik Rubac

Anne Havlik Rubac passed away peacefully on July 14, 2021, at the age of 89. The youngest of nine children, Anne was born in Roznov, Texas, on Oct. 10, 1931, to Charles J. Havlik, Sr. and Julia Halamicek Havlik.

When she was 3-years-old, her family moved to the farm at Sweet Home, Texas. She attended Sweet Home School for nine years, then graduated from Yoakum High School in 1948. She earned a degree in Home Economics from Texas State College in San Marcos in 1952. She got her first job as a home economics teacher at Gonzales High School where she continued teaching for 38 years, retiring in 1990.

In 1981 she married Jerry Rubac, and they lived together happily until his death in 1996. She was a member of the Gonzales Retired Teachers and a lifelong member of SPJST.

Anne is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers: Lad Havlik, Charles J. Havlik, Jr., and Lawrence Havlik; and five sisters: Lillie Mae Keilers, Anita Havran, Julia Bernshausen, Martha Sirey and Alice Wisely.

Anne enjoyed time with her family, traveling, flowers, and gardening. She especially loved her family farm in Sweet Home where she spent many hours sitting on the back porch and watching her cows.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home in Gonzales. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Restland Cemetery in Yoakum.

Anne’s family would like to thank Dr. Terry Eska, the nurses and staff of The Heights of Gonzales, and the nurses and staff of Heart to Heart Hospice for their caring and compassion.
