Anita Padilla Chapman

Anita Padilla Chapman, 66, of Gonzales, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018. She was born Oct. 31, 1951 in Gonzales the daughter of Joe B. and Mollie Cerda Padilla. She was a graduate of Gonzales High School and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She married Ivory Ray Chapman in 1980. She was a senior accountant for the Texas Department of Health and retired in December of 2012 after 20 years of service.

She loved bingo, playing video games and watching her favorite novellas. She was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

She is survived by daughters: Robbie J. Chapman and companion Ngozi Ellison of San Antonio and Karla M. Chapman of Colorado Springs, CO; step-daughter Sophia Jones of Killeen; son David A. Padilla Chapman of Austin; step-son Craig Chapman of San Antonio; grandchildren: Quintin L. Chapman, Derrick W. Chapman, Amber Manning, Lauren Chapman, Leonard R. Chapman Jr., Latifah D. Hill, Diajanique D. Harrison, Davare D. Harrison and Daviana D. Chapman; sisters: Gloria Cantu and Dora Padilla both of Gonzales. Also surviving are 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Carol E. Chapman, son Leonard R. Chapman Sr., sister Helen Mendez and brothers Joe Padilla Jr. and Andrew Padilla.

Visitation was from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20 with a prayer vigil at 7 p.m. at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Reverend Paul Raaz officiating. Interment will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers include James Johnson, Daniel Arriaga, David Holmes, Clarence Miller, Charlie Hubbard and Johnny Angel Mendez. Arrangements under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, Gonzales.
