Amelia Banda, 85, of Gonzales, Texas passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at her residence.

Funeral mass is under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home and will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Paul Raaz officiating. Burial will follow at Saint James Catholic Cemetery. A rosary will be recited on Friday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. at Buffington Funeral Home with Deacon Terry Brennan officiating.

Amelia was born on Sept. 18, 1932 in Gonzales, Texas. She was the daughter of Leonel and Juanita (San Miguel) Deleon. Amelia married Lionisio Banda on March 4, 1955 in Shiner, Texas. Mrs Banda was a homemaker who loved to care for family. She loved playing with her grandchildren when they were small.

Amelia is survived by four sons; Michael Banda of Gonzales, Texas, Richard and Sylvia Banda of Gonzales, Texas, Lionisio and Michelle Banda, Jr. of Gonzales, Texas, Oscar and Terry Banda of Segiun, Texas, two daughters; Sylvia and Erasmo Leal of Gonzales, Texas, Gloria Contreras of Gonzales, Texas, 19 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Leonel and Juanita Deleon, her husband, Lionisio Banda, three brothers; Porfirio Deleon, David Deleon, John Deleon, one daughter; Gloria Banda, and one grandson; Michael Banda Jr.
