GONZALES — The Texas Youth Rodeo Association finals are over with a few Gonzales County athletes making top scores throughout the week.

One of the busiest cowgirls last week was Gonzales’ Sadie Thibodeaux who after making multiple top-10 times in different events finished fifth overall in the all-around junior girls category.

Thibodeaux made great time in the figure eight event, taking third in the first go with a time of 9.208 seconds, behind Orange Grove’s Acey Pinkston and Eryn Ellis, timed at 8.709 seconds and 9.166 seconds, respectively.

In the second go, she took fourth with her time of 9.088 seconds. She was edged out by Pinkston who again took first with a time of 8.761 seconds, Falfurrias’ Mackenzie Bryce who took second at 8.889 and Bellville’s Jayci Byler who took third at 8.943.

Thibodeaux would take second in the third go with her best time of the event at 8.872 seconds. Pinkston took first for the third time with her best time of 8.69 seconds.

Thibodeaux ended the year second overall in junior girls’ figure eight, just 30 points behind Byler.

She also had some success in ribbon roping with Shiner’s Trace Herndon. The duo took eight in the first go with their time of 9.500 seconds. Despite finishing outside the top 10 in their second go with their time of 12.300 seconds, Herndon and Thibodeaux competed in the third go and took advantage as they placed third with their time of 7.930 seconds.

She ends the year in ribbon roping as a runner in fourth overall.

Thibodeaux also participated in goat tying, timing at 12.160 and 11.600 seconds in the first and second go, but it wasn’t good enough for a top-10 finish in each go. She finishes 11th overall.

In junior poles, her first go was a no time but her second was a 21.191 seconds, good for third place behind Madisonville’s Aly Ghormley and Utopia’s Madison Outhier. Thibodeaux finished the year seventh overall.

Her final event was junior girls’ breakaway in which she no timed both tries.

Another Thibodeaux cowgirl in the rodeo was sub-junior Audrey Thibodeaux who finished ninth in the all around standings in her age group.

Thibodeaux’s best performance of the week would be in cloverleaf where she improved on her time after each go.

After taking 11th in the first go with her time of 18.616 seconds, Thibodeaux would take seventh in the second go with her time of 17.948 seconds. This was good enough to participate in the third and final go, taking fourth with her time of 17.684 seconds behind Cotulla’s London Gorham at 17.223 seconds, Paige’s Mattie-Cash Mueller at 17.908 and Beeville’s Heath Harkins 17.679.

Thibodeaux also participated in sub-junior figure eight but didn’t finish in the top 10 in either go. She was timed at 10.588 seconds and 10.177 seconds.

A top-10 finish evaded her in the sub-junior poles as well as she was timed at 29.020 and 30.120 seconds.

Gonzales had one final cowboy who participated in the finals as Kameron Glass took on rough stock bull riding. Glass would unfortunately no time in both tries.

Nixon’s Brooke Hester participated in senior girl’s breakaway, no timing in the first go and finishing with a time of 12.170 seconds in the second. She also no timed in both tries at team roping.

Nixon’s Miles Svoboda took on steer wrestling, no timing in both tries but finishing the year 10th overall in the event.
