The Gonzales Summer Track and Field program will have 21 athletes headed to College Station this Thursday as they all qualified for the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) state track meet that will run through Sunday.

“[I am] very proud of the turnout we had for our summer track program,” head track and field coach Cully Doyle said. “The support and encouragement we are receiving is amazing.”

“The younger kids are growing in numbers and the athletes are getting more confident and having lots of fun.”

During their three-week program for the 12-and-under age group, Doyle reported that they had over 100 athletes compete.

“It was nice to see the numbers stay above 100 two years in a row,” he said.

As for the traveling, Doyle said the 18-and-under athletes went to track meets in Round Rock and Buda, where the qualifying track meet was held.

“It has been a great summer. I appreciate everyone’s support and look forward to seeing every one again next summer for the 12-and-under program.”

Qualifiers for this year state track meet includes Kendall Fougerat, Krisslynn Sexton, Hannah Rowland, Tyla Dalton, Johnna Dalton, Skyler Simtek, Ericka Hernandez, Kristyn Baker, Marah Moers, Caityln Blundell, Madison Blundell, Josie Stowers, Jacey Henrichs, Molly Barnick, Maggie Barnick, Frank Benes, Sam Benes, Jasmin Steemer, Haley Garza, Veronica Moreno and Cristal Garcia.
