Lostroh takes top spot at PBR event

Longmont, Colo., native Kody Lostroh came away with the top prize at Saturday’s PBR event at J.B. Wells Arena, making both of his rides in the long and short goes for a total of 165.5 points. The win earned Lostroh $3,236.80.

More than $11,500 were up for grabs in total prize money as 40 of the world’s best bull riders took to the arena Saturday.

The young bulls proved to be tough, though, as only eight riders held on for the full eight seconds, with only Lostroh staying on for both of his rides in the long and short goes.

Lostroh actually had the lowest score of the five riders that made their rides in the long go Saturday, scoring just 78 points for his ride on Zumba in the opening minutes of the event.

Lostroh had only the third highest score of the four riders who held on in the short go, scoring an 87.5 for his ride on The Jam.

Lostroh was the only rider to make both of his rides, though, earning him the top prize.

 Justin Granger of Tuba City, AZ came in second Saturday, scoring 92 points for his ride in the short go after failing to earn a ride in the long go. Granger left the area with $2,312 in prize money.

Fredericksburg’s Elliot Jacoby was third, taking home $1,387.20 after scoring an 89 on his ride of Jammered in the short go.

Alfonso Orozco, of Salamanca, Mexico was fourth with a score of 87 in the short go. Orozco earned $924.80.

Francisco Morales of Irapuato Mexico was fifth as he scored an 86.5 for his ride on Night Moves in the long go. Morales earned $554.88.

Decatur’s Mike Lee finished sixth with a score of 86 for his ride of Circle T 106T in the long go, earning him $369.92.

Frank Archuletta of Ignacio, CO was seventh after earning 84 points for his ride of Silver Bullet in the long go. Archuletta took home $277.44 for his efforts.

Last year’s winner, Markus Mariluch of Elko, NV came in eight this time around, scoring 80 points in the long go for his ride of Buckshot.

Hometown favorite Zach Miles came up short in his attempt in the long go Saturday as Poker Face threw him before the eight-second buzzer sounded.
