CASPER, Wyo. — Gonzales-native Lindsey Trammell competed in the College National Finals Rodeo last week, trying to make some noise in barrel racing. The freshman rodeo athlete competed for her college, Tarleton State University, with some success.

In her first go, Trammell was timed at 14.6 seconds. In the second go, she did better, timing in at 14.2 seconds. In the third go, she was timed at 14.4 seconds. Unfortunately she did not qualify for the final-go round, ultimately placing at 20th out of the 51 rodeo athletes.

Trammell qualified for the nationals back in early May, after winning at the Tarleton State Stampede rodeo, which was more than enough to push her to the top three list in the Southwest region.

In order to qualify, she needed to be among the top three individuals in her region.

Southwest is one of 12 different regions in the United States.

In an earlier interview, Trammell mentioned the full-ride scholarship she earned this year was a “big accomplishment” and that she was “very thankful.”

She also said that after this national competition, Trammell was going to give her horses a much-needed rest even though she’s allowed to compete in amateur competitions during the break.
