Gonzales downed at home opener

GONZALES — The Lady Apaches fell at their home opener, (21-25, 24-26, 13-25) to the Lockhart Lions on Monday, Aug. 18. Leading the team in kills were Alex Finch and Molly Barnick while Danielle Flowers led in assists with eight. Barnick also led in blocks with two solo and one assisted.

“Tonight was a great match,” Gonzales’ head coach Sarah Kennedy said. “We played as a team and executed areas that we were weak in last week. This is the best game we have played so far and the team is really coming together.”

The Lady Apaches are hoping to improve on their play as they travel to Schulenburg for a tournament that began yesterday. Results from Thursday’s game were unavailable before press.
