Apaches 9th in Edna

With all three relay teams placing the Gonzales boys track and field team finished ninth in the Edna Relays Thursday in Edna.

The 400-meter, 800-meter and 1,600-meter relay teams all garnered points for the Apaches. The 400 relay team finished third with a time of 44.65 seconds, while the 800 relay team was fourth (1:42.28) and the 1,600 relay team took fifth (3:46.21).

Troy Hernandez, Darrance James, Cory Espinosa, and Don Cartwright were the members of the 400 relay team, while Espinosa, Chris Cerda, Thompson Ince, and Coltin Russell ran on the 800 relay team, and Russell, Hernandez, Ince, and Cerda consisted of the 1,600 relay team. Cartwright also placed third in the 100-meter run (11.19), while Cody Jurek finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 44 feet, 9 inches.

Gonzales will return to competition on Saturday as the Apaches participate in the Tom Tom Relays at Bulldogs Stadium in Yoakum.
