Citizen against sex offender signs

Our city governors have done it again. We do not need ordinances that are not doing anyone any good because for the most part they cannot be enforced or will not be enforced. The car speaker noise ordinance is one of those, and now we have the sex offender ordinance which the city attorney tells you will not affect those already on the sex offender list, because they were on the list when the ordinance was passed. I also do not like people that are sex offenders, but if they are on a list it means that they have paid their debt to society for their offense or are in the process of paying for their offense. If we do not try with our laws to rehabilitate law breakers how are they to ever be back into normal society? They have, or are being punished for the offense, do we also need to humiliate them just to soothe some well meaning government officials? Perhaps the city manager and the council should impose the old laws from the seventeenth century and make offenders for fornication and adultery wear scarlet letters to humiliate. I thought that we were in a society that wanted to change peoples behavior not cause them to be in a position to never have a life of normalcy. We also should look again at the practice of denying felons to vote. If they have paid their debt to society why do we need to make them non citizens? The council needs to rethink this ordinance and repeal it.
