Sandi’s Country Fried News

Posted

I knew there was going to be a problem writing this news when I looked at my email and read this one that said “Fatal treatments----Now three for price of one.”  All of a sudden the brain kicked in and asked, What was that???? The eyes uncrossed and I blinked a couple of times to bring things into focus to get “Facial treatments---Now three for the price of one.” Somehow that makes a lot more sense. Those poor people are making a plea for gutters on TV and we are unfortunately only getting two drops of rain.  I think that we need to make praying for rain a top priority.  We don’t need any floods, but we sure do need some soaking rain for the grass and to get the crops up. A lot of people are already planting watermelons, corn, and other crops. Good luck and prayers to all of you.

The fourth Tuesday at 2PM is our regular meeting at the Belmont Community Center.  Now the big thing is for everyone to remember your spring cleaning and your RUMMAGE—everyone in the community put your stuff over in that special box.  In April we are having our annual fund raising rummage sale.  Easter comes late this year, April 24th, so the sale will have to be before Easter. A couple of you have called me and said that you have “stuff” and we do want your “stuff” but we don’t have that special place to put it at the moment. So I am going to have to ask you to hold on to it just a little bit longer.

Please lift the following people up in your prayers: William Fink,  Joe Gary Kotwig, Sandi Gandre, Janet Clark, Mary Be Arnold, Bill Lott, Kathy and Tony Black,  Jack Finch,  Pam Mc Kee, Harold Willmann, Sara Roecker,  Joy Maynor and Laddie  also Angela,Emil and Sam;plus Deanie and Amanda; Vida Tindle, Melda,  Aunt Betty Gandre, Anna Lindeman, Shirley Dozier, Gaston and Ophelia Thurmond, Britt Hindman, Sean Weda, Scott Hindman, Susan Lowe Ward, Garrett Muelker, Henry Sepulveda, Stanley Burris, Clay Koepp, The Families of George Rossow, Gloria Grantham, Bisenta Rodriguez, Ruby Busch, Royce Towns Sr.,Mrs. Ernest; Marilyn Byrd, our troops and their families, and those in the earthquake and anything to do with it.

If you did not hear the Byleat Family sing at the Belmont Social Club last Saturday night, you missed some wonderful music. Nancy Balyeat, the mother, also is a renowned Water color artist who hides verses in the detail of each painting. The older boy married a girl from North Dakota, and they were headed back that way to stay in a cabin to work on cattle ranch for a month and a half. They quit early Saturday night to head for Inez, TX. .

I want to wish a big Happy Birthday to Shelley Hobbs.  I hope Daddy Joe goes up and gives her a big bear hug that is special for getting us Jake.  I think Shelley might be the only one that could be allowed to say they are twenty-nine and holding. Happy, Happy Birthday Shelley and many, many more.

Now as to the other two of you…..Joyce Soefje deserves to eat out and all kinds of things for putting up with you Willie. You need to go down the road a little ways and be patient. Order your food, listen to the band make beautiful country music (but make those reservations on Friday)

As for Eddy Westmoreland, well I think that Eddy gets to taste these cakes that Diane makes all of the time.  So Eddy can go downtown Cuero and eat at the good Mexican restaurant that they have over there.  Maybe he could slide on down to Victoria to see the sites or come back North.  You just never know about those Westmorelands.

We saw Lou Fullilove shopping yesterday and she was feeling much better.  When David called Saturday to find a replacement for her as pianist because she had one of those sick headaches. I could feel the pain. Thanks to Gladys Lindemann, her mother, for filling in for her. I thought maybe I could help Will do part of it but I am glad that I did not volunteer because I ended up passing a kidney stone late Saturday night. I do not want to think about that kind pain again either. Thank goodness I got rid of it in about three hours.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to All you folks in Shamrock land.

Will is outside trying to get some work done underneath the house. Of course the three outside Chihuahuas think this is prime time for them to get some lovin’. Our rolly polly Biscuit is barrel chested and has always had somewhat of a waddle when she walked. One day she landed flat on her belly and hydroplaned. Well anyway, she got right on top of Will’s chest and parked herself right there. So he rubbed her and scratched her everywhere, and then he had to do Spanky, and he did Joey a little bit. Joey is the “touch me not” Chihuahua. Biscuit gets so happy when you pet her and scratch her that she just wiggles all over.  We bought Biscuit and her sister and Mother at the flea market in Canton because I could not stand leaving her there with her owner. We found homes for the other two, and we kept Biscuit. Biscuit has given us a lot of laughs.

Have a good week, and God Bless.
