Is ‘global warming’ finally debunked?

Posted

Ever since Al Gore lost his Presidential bid to George W. Bush in 2000, our senses have been bombarded with Gore’s “inconvenient truth” that “global warming” threatens our very existence. Unless we come up with massive government expenditures, take away all our freedoms and keep scientists fed forever, we are doomed.

“Scientists all agree,” they have been fond of chirping whenever anybody questions their “proof.” I remember not too long ago, CBS Anchor Scott Pelly showed pictures of a glacier “calving” as proof of the claim. He lost all credibility with me at that moment.

Glaciers have been calving since the beginning of time and that means nothing. As the frozen mass reaches relatively warmer waters of the ocean, the ice in the glacier melts and breaks off, falling dramatically into the sea.

But it has nothing whatsoever to do with global warming. Nothing.

Other proof has been just as suspect. Never mind that temperatures have been relatively constant for some 16 years. That is not enough to interfere with their narrative. See, temperatures are going up exponentially. Even when they aren’t.

Just the motive of these politicians and scientists is enough to raise basic questions. Proving global warming is real gives the ambitious politician more opportunity to control his constituents with ever-expanding rules. And it means continued government funding for scientists whose primary source of income frequently comes from government grants.

And the solutions always involve imposing new controls on the USA, even though some of the worst polluters are in other countries, China and India are among the worst.

But, then, we don’t get to control China and India, do we?

FOX News and The Daily Mail reported this week that more than a million more square miles in the Arctic Ocean were covered in ice this year than a year ago, an increase of 60 percent.

“Arctic sea ice averaged 2.35 million square miles in August, 2013, as compared to the low point of 1.32 million square miles recorded on Sept. 16, 2012, according to the National Snow and Ice Data Center,” the Mail said. “A chart published Sept. 8 by NSIDC shows the dramatic rise this year, putting total ice cover within two standard deviations of the 30-year average.”

Using the year-over-year surge, one scientist even argued that “global cooling” is here.

But hardly a science magazine today fails to include “proof ” of global warming in every story. It seems they have a vested interest in keeping the scam alive.

“We are already in a cooling trend, which I think will continue for the next 15 years at least,” Anastasios Tsonis of the University of Wisconsin said. "There is no doubt the warming of the 1980s and 1990s has stopped.”

The million-acre increase in Arctic ice could be a result of record-setting lows last summer.

But the pro-global-warming group uses lower temperatures right along with historic highs as “proof ” of their claim. If today is warmer than normal, that is proof global warming is here. If we set record lows and people are buried in snow, that too, indicates global warming.

I remember one claim of a few years ago that global warming could get so bad, it might even trigger a “new ice age.” OK.

The BBC predicted in 2007 that the Arctic could become ice-free this year. And the false claims continue today.

An ice-free Arctic is “definitely coming, and coming sooner than we previously expected," Walt Meier, a glaciologist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md, told LiveScience last month. “We’re looking at when as opposed to if.”

Noting the growth in ice, the Snow and Ice Data Center said that coverage was still well below the 30-year average. And the year over year growth in ice is “largely irrelevant,” The Guardian argued, noting that more ice is to be expected after the record low a year ago.

Let’s cut the games and go right to the truth. Al Gore, his friends in Big Government and most grant-funded scientists need global warming to be real.

They can’t afford for the truth to be known.
