Pete Carrizales

Pete Carrizales, 85, of Gonzales, Texas passed away on Monday, Feb. 6 at Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

Funeral Mass is under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas and will be held on Friday, February, Feb. 10 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales, Texas with Father Paul Raaz officiating. Burial will follow at Saint James Catholic Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Alfonso Moreno officiating.

Pete was born on November 7, 1931 in Gonzales, Texas. He was the son of Pedro and Maria (Sanchez) Carrizales. He married Mary Camarrilo on May 3, 1953 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales, Texas. He worked started working at Booth Hatchery as a young man and worked there for 60 years. He and his wife enjoyed going out to eat and then riding around town. Pete was at the Apaches football games every Friday night. He was also a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and the Texas Longhorns. He loved his grandchildren, and reading them bedtime stories. Pete was a quiet man, and a man of few words who was always there for others.

Pete is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary, one son; Pete Carrizales, Jr. and his wife, Yolanda of Round Rock, Texas, two daughters; Emily Reyes and her husband, Bennie of San Antonio, Texas, Elsa Steen and her husband, Don of San Antonio, Texas, two brothers; Anastacio “Tacho” Carrizales and his wife Mary of San Antonio, Texas, Jesse “Chuy” Carrizales and his wife, Lupe of Gonzales, Texas, ten grandchildren; Peter Carrizales III, Monica Carrizales, David Carrizales, Jessica Molina, Johnathan Molina, Katheryn Molina, Gabrielle Reyes, Bennie Reyes III, Josh Reyes, and Danielle Reyes, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Pedro and Maria Carrizales, one infant son; Jesse Carrizales, two brothers; Fidel Carrizales, and Elisio Carrizales.

Pallbearers for Mr. Carrizales will be Johnathan Molina, Peter Carrizales III, Peter Carrizales IV, David Carrizales, Bennie Reyes III and Alvin Ramos. Honorary Pallbearers will be Triston Ramos and Brandon Carrizales.
