Georgia Sue Barnett Parker, 86, of Wrightsboro, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2015. She was born Feb. 3, 1929 in Wrightsboro to  Hartwell George  and Cornelia Henry Barnett.

As a young girl, Georgia became a  faithful  member of the Wrightsboro Baptist Church. During her school years Georgia attended school in Wrightsboro, Smiley and Gonzales. She always had stories to share with her family, and one of her favorite stories was how she and her friends rode to school in Smiley in the back of a cattle truck.

She met the love of her life, Lewis M. Parker, Jr. and they were married on Dec. 28, 1945 in Gonzales. For the next 58 years she worked side by side with Lewis on their ranch raising cattle, chickens and farming. She was a traditional farm wife with a pioneer spirit. Even after Georgia lost her beloved husband she  continued  to manage the family ranch with the help of her children.

Georgia was an excellent seamstress and sewed many beautiful clothes for her young children. Later in life, she used her sewing talents to create  beautiful  purses.

Some of her favorite past times were watching San Antonio Spurs games and riding  around the ranch to check on her  cattle. Most of all she was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. It gave her great joy to spoil her grandchildren and later the great- grandchildren, who will always remember Mima’s  special candy drawer, which she allowed them to visit any time they  wanted.

Georgia is survived by her children, James L., “Jim” Parker and wife, Kris of Wrightsboro, Cathy Hallmark and husband, David of  Wrightsboro and Judy Parker Williams of Gonzales; grandchildren, Brian and Becky Parker, Brad Parker, Stacey Parker McKee, Alison and James Schimcek, Parker and Kelly Hallmark, Kaylin and Dwayne Petras and Kassie and Clay Hajovsky; great-grandchildren Weston, Lila and Drew Parker, Caytlyn Parker, Anderson McKee, Hadley and Judson Hallmark, Cullen and Layton Schimcek, Parker and Case Petras and Lillie Hajovsky. She is also survived by a brother, Jack Barnett and wife, Peggy of Wrightsboro, many nieces and nephews and the ladies who helped her family care for her over the past two years. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Visitation will be held at Seydler Hill Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Dennis Droupy officiating. Interment will follow at the Wrightsboro Cemetery.
