On April 11, 1934, a new baby girl was born to Fred Rudolph Cavanaugh and Hughella Mildred Caldwell and they named her Delores Maxine Caldwell-Cavanaugh.

Being during the times of the Great Depression, jobs were hard to find so they traveled to West Area to find employment in the cattle industry. She eventually moved back to Cameron where her paternal and maternal grandmothers helped to raise her.

Later she, her first cousin Bobbie and her paternal grandmother Mamme Cavanaugh moved back to West Texas to be close to her father. A few years later Mamme became ill and Delores, Bobbie along with their grandmother moved back to Cameron.

She then moved to Houston to live with her mother where she remained until the last two months then living in Lockhart under the careful and watchful eye of her older son.

Delores graduated from Jack Yates in 1952, later to go on to nursing school. After years of nursing she obtained a Bachelor of Education and Business then taught one semester at Kashmere Junior High. Not liking the teaching field she went back to nursing at the health center at the University of Houston. There she obtained her license to become a radiologic technologists.

In 1982, she went to work for the Harris County Hospital District until her retirement in May of 2002. While working for Harris County, she set up the first mammography clinic at the Settegast facility. Being fluent in speaking Spanish she traveled all over Central America working as a nurse and translator for a doctor during outreach work for the less fortune children in those countries.

She is survived by her sons, Gregory Daniels of Lockhart and Vernon Woodard of Houston; granddaughters, Danielle, Tekisha, Temesha, and Nikki; grandson, Christopher of Lockhart; sister, Loretta White of Duncanville; brother, Ronald Caldwell of Iowa Park, Texas; first cousin, Patricia White of Pearland and her children, Cheryl, Deborah, Anthony and George, Jr.; niece Temesha Caldwell and nephews James, William and Craig; special contact cousin Lourian (BO) Madison of Cameron and long lifetime friend Barbara Ellis and daughter Carol Lynn and many friends.
