Dawn Diann Bond, 55 of Gonzales, passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016. Diann was born Feb. 15, 1960 in Wichita, Kansas to Danny and Connie Dale Branstetter Wirtz. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Gonzales. 

Diann grew up in Gonzales and attended schools there. She had worked the Gar Hole and the Turn Around with her mother. Diann enjoyed doing craftwork making candles, silk flower arrangements and working in her flower beds. 

She loved to fish and joined her mother on many fishing outings running trot lines and just fishing. She and her boyfriend Ken Paris loved to travel and visit destinations throughout Louisiana, Santa Fe and Albuquerque, Las Vegas and the old mining town of Ortman, Ariz. Diann delighted in collecting things along the way like Indian dolls, rooster and dachshund figurines to fairies and frogs, keepsakes she cherished as memories of happy times. 

Diann was an awesome mother to her children and companion to Ken. She was a great listener and always sure to offer sound advice. She had a huge heart and would do most anything to help those she loved. She was a good cook and an excellent baker. She loved Christmas and thoroughly cherished having her family near to rejoice in the season.

Dawn Diann Bond is survived by her loving life companion, Ken Paris of Shiner; sons, Billy Reno Hale of San Antonio and Buddy Daniel Hale and his wife Megan of Kingsbury; brother, Danny Wirtz, II and his wife Alice of Victoria and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Dr. Chris Irving officiating. Interment will follow in Gonzales Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Ken Paris, Buddy Hale, Megan Hale, Damian Pape, Billy Bossley and Danny Sloan. Honorary pallbearer is Billy Hale. 

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.  Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
