James Eddie Gordon Jr.

James Eddie Gordon Jr., loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014 at the age of 88. He was born on Nov. 12, 1925 to Bessie Gordon and James E. Gordon Sr. in East St. Louis, Ill. 

He married Patricia Jackson on Dec. 18, 1954, in Corpus Christi.

He is survived by his four sons, Paul Lee (Debbie) of San Antonio, Gray Eddie (Brenda) of San Antonio, Matthew Ernest (Sandra) of Huffman and Glenn Robert (Phyllis) of Dallas; seven grandchildren, Gray Eddie (Stephanie), Colt Robert (Shaunna), Cody James, Laura Ashley Hans (Shane), Garrett Lee, Courtney Anne and James Matthew; and six great-grandchildren, Tyler Scott, Walker Gray, Tyler Ryan Hans, Skyler Shyann, Graycen Codi and Jackson Ryan Hans; nephew James Timothy of Lampasas and niece Susan Schorre of Houston. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Evelyn Tuley and Elaine Griffin and loving wife Patricia.

Jim moved at the age of 8 to Oak Cliff. He was a part of Boy Scouts Troop #130 in Cockerel Hill.  He served in the United States Army Air Corps. Jim graduated from SMU in 1949 with his undergraduate and then went on to UT Austin for his Master’s in Geology and graduated in 1951.

He worked for Southern Minerals in Standard of Texas, was a College Professor at Del Mar College and eventually became an Independent Exploration Petroleum Geologist.

One of Jim’s passions was raising the four boys with his devoted wife, Pat. Another passion of Jim’s was his ranch in Wrigtsboro. Pat and Jim enjoyed their time living there and having family and friends visit often. His stories and advice will continue to impact their lives and he will be terribly missed.

Jim was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Gonzales.

Visitation were at Sedyler-Hill Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 10 from 5 to 7 p.m.  Graveside services were held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11 at the Gonzales Masonic Cemetery with memorial services following at the First Presbyterian Church in Gonzales with Reverend Diane Whitley officiating.
