John Lester Boyd passed away April 4, 2015. He was born March 19, 1962 in Gonzales to David Jordan and Tommie Lou Boyd. He attended Gonzales schools and graduated in 1980. He worked for GVEC and then in the oil field for a time.

He married Kathlyn Jewell Freeman on March 17, 1984. He was working for Community Cable Company while attending Del Mar College in Corpus Christi. He then went back to school attending Southwest School of Electronics, graduating in 1989 with an associate degree.

He went to work for Par Micro Systems in 1989 and worked there for five years. He then went to work for Falcon Cable where he was injured on the job and unable to work again. He said he got to spend time with his young kids unlike so many other dads that had to go to work.

John loved to fish, he liked to work on computers and he loved going dancing with his wife. John grew up attending the First United Methodist Church and was a member. He was always willing to help others. John always looked to the good in bad times. John believed your family was not just the ones kin to you by blood but the ones you loved.

John was the father of three children and the grandfather of two. John is survived by his wife of 31 years; his children, Crystal Boyd of Gonzales, John L. Boyd II and wife Roxie of McAllen and Chance Boyd of Gonzales; sisters, Virginia Ledbetter, Cherrie Chaney (Gary) and Lou Ann Parsley (John); brother, David J. Boyd, Jr.; grandsons, David Boyd III and Luke Boyd; brother-in-laws, Orvon Ross Freeman and wife Mary, James Repp (Melissa) and Robert Southwell and wife Sharon; several nieces and nephews and an uncle and aunt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; uncle, Edward Boyd; brother-in-law, Robert Ledbetter and mother-in-law, Margaret Freeman.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please donate to LustGarden, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, New York, 11714 or visit their website at curepc.com for pancreatic cancer research; Accolade Hospice or to your church.
