Weldon Wayne Rawls, 82, of Gonzales, passed away Sunday, October 20.

He was born July 23, 1931 in Pelly, Texas, the son of John Weldon Rawls and Nannie Mae Olive Rawls. He married Geraldine Goodman January 26, 1951 in Highlands, Texas.

He was an operator and supervisor with the Rohm & Haas Chemical Company and retired on July 30, 1991 after over 37 years of service. After his retirement, Wayne and Geraldine moved to Gonzales November 11, 1994 where they raised cattle, enjoyed gardening and life on the ranch. He was know as Paw-Paw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was known for spreading “Wisdom” and speaking his mind. He was a member of Two Rivers Bible Church.

He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Geraldine Goodman Rawls of Gonzales; daughter Susan Henley and husband Tommy of Highlands; sons Michael Rawls and wife Marsha of Lillington, North Carolina, Steven Rawls and wife Sharon of Highlands and Kent Rawls and wife Brenda of Mont Belvieu; sister Regina Hardin and husband Douglas of Conroe; brother John Winston Rawls of Gonzales; sisters-in-law Margaret Rawls of Angleton and Bonnie Parker and husband Robert of Highlands. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Rawls and sister-in-law Marie Rawls.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, October 24 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, October 25 at the funeral home with Reverend Jesse Elizondo officiating. Interment will follow at the Gonzales Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Brian Rawls, Cory Rawls, Joshua Henley, Toby Wilburn, John Rawls Jr. and Arnulfo Reyes. Honorary Pallbearers include Jonathan Henley and Clay Rawls.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Two Rivers Bible Church.
