USMC – Arlye William Deschner, 86, of Conroe, TX was enlisted into the service of our heavenly Father on May 8, 2015. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Peggy Lea Deschner of Conroe, two loving sons and daughter-in-laws, David Jonathan and Karen Deschner of Cut And Shoot, TX, Michael William and Brenda Deschner of Houston, brothers, Reinhart Philip “Flip” Deschner and Everett Eugene Deschner an his wife Carolyn, seven grand-children, Michelle Deschner, Tanya Guy, J.T. Bradberry, Adam Baber, Chad Baber, Megan Petersen and Chelsea Bug Deschner and nine great-grandchildren, family was so very important to Arlye, they were the stars and stripes in his life, as were those that went before him in his parents and brother, Henry Deschner.

He was born in Monthalia, TX to Henry William Deschner and Hannah Siepmann Deschner and grew up in Gonzales working through the Boy Scouts to earn the highest rank of scouting, Eagle Scout. Arlye joined the USMC in July 1948. He married Peggy Lea McGlothing on December 2, 1951 in the Gonzales First United Methodist Church while still in the service. He was a veteran of the Koran war and with time served aboard the USS CV 21 Boxer Aircraft Carrier and his travels would take him worldwide.

Arlye graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1955 with a degree in engineering. He went on to work for Brown & Root. His accomplishments include construction of a US Helicopter training base in Mineral Wells, TX, construction of the bridge over Lake Toledo Bend Reservoir, and construction of a particle board plant in Broken Bowe, Oklahoma, all the while enriching the lives of countless people he worked with and met along the way.

Arlye had a passion for working in his garden; playing in his work shop, wood working, reading the Holy Bible, and the U.S. Marine Corps. God blessed him with 63 years with love of his life, Peggy. No man has ever loved his wife, his best friend more than he. Arlye stands guard now, at the gates of heaven awaiting her. Semper Fi , PaPa, Always Faithful, You’re Loving Family...

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2015 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Gonzales Masonic Cemetery with Full Military Honors. The family received friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 2015 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Gonzales Healthcare Systems Foundation, c/o Hannah Siepmann Deschner Advanced Nursing Scholarship Fund, 1110 N Sarah DeWitt Dr., Gonzales, TX 78629. Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
