Jose Velasquez Molina

Jose Velasquez Molina, 78, of Gonzales, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 at Texan Nursing and Rehab of Gonzales.

Funeral services are under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales and were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 21 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales with Father David Tonary officiating. A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 20 at the Buffington Funeral Home Chapel in Gonzales.

Jose was born Aug. 17, 1935 in Waelder. He was the son of Juan and Lucia (Velasquez) Molina. He married Sarah Soto in Gonzales on Dec. 24, 1966 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales.  Jose enjoyed various hobbies such as hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed his pets and animals.

Jose is survived by two sons, Robert Molina of San Antonio and John Steven Molina of San Antonio; three sisters, Jesusa Almaraz of Waelder, Aniceta (Antonia) Perales of Slaton, Texas and Juanita Olmos of Gonzales; one brother, Tomas Molina of Gonzales; three brothers in law, Chino Soto of Gonzales, Clifford Soto of San Antonio and Guadalupe Martinez of San Antonio; sister in law, Delia Martinez; grandson, Devin Tyler Gibson and wife, Lexie of Gonzales; and great-granddaughter, Callie Gibson of Gonzales.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Soto Molina; parents, Juan and Lucia Velasquez Molina; two sisters, Candelaria Perez, Teresa Molina; two brothers, Candido Molina and Fructoso Molina.

Pallbearers for Jose Molina are; Clifford Soto, Candido Molina, Jr., Cosme Molina, Carlos Molina, Johnny Molina, George Molina.

The family of Mr. Molina wishes to offer their appreciation and gratitude to the Soto family, Rita Soto, Delia Soto Martinez, Concha Flores, Father Paul Raaz, Texan Nursing Center and Odyssey Hospice.
