Yoakum’s Washington receives $5,000 scholarship

Southwest Engineers is proud to announce the winner of its fifth annual engineering scholarship.  Carson Washington of Yoakum was awarded a scholarship worth up to $5,000 to pursue a civil engineering degree.  Carson is a 2011 graduate of Yoakum High School with plans to attend Texas A&M University. He has been extremely active in community volunteer activities, FFA and athletics.  Carson is the son of Robert and Karen Washington. The annual scholarship is awarded to encourage local area students to pursue the opportunities available to graduate engineers.  Each year it goes to a local student planning to study civil engineering.  Students graduating each year from school in Hallettsville, Shiner, Gonzales and Yoakum are eligible to apply.  Interested students should see their school’s counselor for details.
