Pioneer Village benefit planned

Everyone should have the opportunity to visit the Pioneer Village Living History Center in Gonzales.

But because of the historic authenticity of the grounds, the village has proven particularly challenging to those limited by a wheelchair or other aid to their mobility.

That’s something Pioneer Village director Cindy Munson and her board of directors want to change, and why they have partnered with the Gonzales Elks #2413 and The Gonzales Inquirer to host a benefit dinner and show Friday, July 27, at the Elks Lodge, 1222 Sarah DeWitt Drive.

Proceeds will help complete all ADA-compatible projects for the village.

Doors at the Elks Lodge open at 6 p.m., with a barbecue pork steak dinner served at 7 p.m., followed by live entertainment by Jewel’s Jewels, a 1950s and ’60s Maguire Sisters-type trio.

Tickets are $12, and must be purchased in advance. Tickets will not be sold at the door, and there is no admittance without a ticket.

Tickets can be purchased at the Gonzales Chamber of Commerce, 414 St. Lawrence Street; Pioneer Village, 2122 N. St. Joseph Street; Halamicek Auto Supply, 626 St. Joseph Street; and The Gonzales Inquirer, 622 N. St. Paul Street.
