Irene Bessie Baker

Irene Bessie Baker, 76, of Gonzales, died Sunday, March 2, 2003 in San Antonio. She was born September 10, 1926 in Colorado County to the late John and Selma Schornack Sternadel, both of Colorado County respectively. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Gonzales and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Emmet J. Baker Sr., of Gonzales, whom she married on January 14, 1948; two daughters, Mariann Kitzman and husband Charley of Pattison, Texas and Ilene Gohmert of Cuero; two sons, Ronald R. Baker and wife Sandy, Emmet J. Baker Jr. and wife Judy, Lee Baker and wife Janet, all of Gonzales; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Rainosek of Hallettsville and Bernice Lacina of Yoakum; one brother, Walter Sternadel of Goliad.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Earline Sternadel and Margaret Eilers.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ildiko Rigney officiating. Burial followed at the Ebenezer Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Darryl Baker, Jeremey Cook, Bradley Baker, Brian Baker, Tinker Brown and Christopher Gohmert.

Memorials can be made to the First Lutheran Church of Gonzales Vision 2004 Fund.

Seydler-Hill Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
