Members of the Thomas Shelton chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently attended a ceremony at the Gonzales Memorial Museum.

DAR Regent Olivia Harless received a check from Mark Wende, president of the Texas Society of the Children of the American Revolution, for $1,000.

The sum was earmarked for the Gonzales Memorial Museum to help identify and label its objects. The Joseph Boothe chapter of the Children of the American Revolution was present at the event along with Joanne E. Zumbrun, senior state chairman of the Children of the American Revolution.

The TSCAR and the local DAR chapter sold Come and Take It pins for $10 each to assist in this project.

Bob Burchard, chairman of the Gonzales County Historical Commission, addressed the group.

Representing the museum were board members Kay Bakken (chairman), Ann Covert, Mary Ella Hurt, Annie Laura Forshagen and Olivia Harless, regent, who appoints chapter members to the board.

Mary Bea Arnold, Museum Curator, also attended. DAR members present included Christy McCaig, Ida McGarity, Libby Yancey and many CAR children.
