Judge Eulogio "Lacho" Melchor, justice of the peace in Precinct 3, has filed to run for re-election and would greatly appreciate your support in the Democratic primary on March 4, 2010.

The Texas Association of Counties says, "The Justices of the Peace is the legal jurisdiction closest to the average citizen." No justice of the peace has been closer to the average citizen than Judge Melchor, he said.

Judge Melchor was born and raised in Waelder. He is a native Texan from one of the oldest families in Gonzales County. Melchor has been married for over 40 years to the love of his life, Rose (Esparza) Melchor. He is the father of three and a grandfather of seven. Melchor is a small businessman, working the family tree farm business, now owned by his brother Samuel Melchor. He has a keen understanding of unique challenges facing rural, small-town Texas.

Melchor said he has shown himself to be a man of character and conviction, fair and just to all of the citizens in his precinct, beholden only to the law and not special interests. Educated at Blinn College, Melchor said he is an adept magistrate who insists upon the highest continuing education standards for himself and his staff, who have received high marks in all routine audits by the state of Texas. Melchor exemplifies all that is best in public service, he said.

Since his election in 2006, Melchor says he has become "the best organized, most efficient and most productive of the J.P. precincts in the county, bringing in nearly a half million dollars of revenue in our county annually while consistently operating his office under budget."

He said he has "developed a reputation for promoting harmony among all agencies with which his office works."
