GONZALES — A Luling woman was jailed recently after officers said they found meth in her purse and clothing.

At 6:45 p.m. Aug. 15, Officer Jonathan Lorton was patrolling the 1200 block of St. Andrew St. when he saw a car make a wide right turn onto Kleine St., into the oncoming lane of traffic, before veering back into the right lane, Capt. Allen Taylor said. Lorton pulled the vehicle over, and identified the driver as Stacy Lynn Bangs, 35, of Luling.

Bangs gave officers permission to search the vehicle. When asked to step out of the vehicle, Bangs took her purse with her. She denied having any contraband in the purse, Taylor said.

Bangs denied permission to search her purse, but then opened it and began to take out items. Officers noticed a small bag fall out of the purse and onto the ground. Inside the bag was a red bandana, and inside the bandana was a plastic box.

When officers asked what was in the box, Bangs said it was medication. However, officers discovered the box contained meth.

Bangs admitted to having additional meth inside her clothing— specifically her underwear. Sgt. Bethany McBride arrived on the scene and searched Bangs, finding the drug. Officers uncovered more meth inside the vehicle.

Bangs was arrested and taken to Gonzales County Jail, charged with possession of a controlled substance.
