1 injured in Wednesday wreck

GONZALES – One person was injured in a three-vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of St. Andrew and St. Paul Sts. Last week.

Capt. Allen Taylor reported that 5:14 p.m. Wed. March 22, a red 2009 Kia Optima driven by 73-year-old Barbara Thigen of Gonzales was traveling westbound in the 500 block of St. Andrew when the driver ran the stop sign there, striking two vehicles in the process.

The first vehicle struck was a white 2014 Ford Escape driven by 24-year-old Heather Naquin of Gonzales, which was headed westbound in the 500 block of St. Andrew. The second vehicle hit was a red 2011 Kia Sorento driven by Judith Tomas, 31, of Gonzales, which was traveling behind Naquin. Thigen's vehicle also struck the stop sign at the intersection, Taylor said.

Naquin was taken by EMS to Gonzales Memorial Hospital and treated for minor injuries. Thigen was issued a citation for failure to regard a stop sign.
