Gonzales’ Akers named finalist for Texas Homecoming Queen

Lindsey Akers, daughter of Mary and James Akers and granddaughter of Jerry and Gayle Akers of Gonzales, has been selected as a finalist for the Texas 33rd annual Homecoming Queen selection to be held April 21 at the Dallas-Fort Worth Marriott in Irving.

Akers is the Gonzales High School homecoming queen.

The Texas Homecoming Queen will receive a cash scholarship plus an all-expense-paid trip to the National finals to compete with the queens from the others states for America’s Homecoming Queen. America’s Homecoming Queen is a non-profit organization promoting education, educational travel and community service in all 50 states.

Akers will also be competing for Texas’ favorite homecoming queen, an online balloting at www.americashomecomingqueen.com.
