Fiscal frugality nets GISD high marks

Gonzales Independent School District received a superior rating from the Texas Education Association (TEA) for its excellent financial condition for the 2009-10 school year.

The TEA publishes the FIRST report --- Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas. School districts are graded on 22 different indicators regarding the fiscal health of the district.

Gonzales ISD got perfect scores on all but one of the indicators.

The district received a score of 75 of 80 possible points. Passing is 56.

To receive the superior achievement rating, districts must score between 72-80 as well as have an academic rating be higher than academically unacceptable.

“This is a wonderful commendation for our district,” said GISD Superintendent Dr. Kim Strozier.

Gonzales ISD also received the superior rating for the 2008-2009 school year.
