GONZALES — A convicted felon wound up back behind bars after he was caught with a firearm and a bag of marijuana, according to reports from Gonzales police.

At 12:31 a.m. July 11, Officer Dustin Kincaid was patrolling the 500 block of St. Michael St. when he noticed a black Lincoln with the driver’s and passenger’s side doors open. Pulling up to the Lincoln, he also spotted a bag containing what he believed to be marijuana on the vehicle’s roof, Capt. Allen Taylor said.

Kincaid then identified the driver as Albert Michael Hall, 26, of Seguin, who said the Lincoln was a rental car. Kincaid identified the passenger as Angela Marie Garza, 26, of Gonzales. Neither Hall nor Garza admitted to being in possession of the marijuana, and both were arrested.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a handgun, which Hall — who is a convicted felon — said was his. Hall and Garza were transported to Gonzales County Jail. Both were charged with possession of marijuana. Hall faces an additional charge, unlawful possession of a firearm.

At 10:30 p.m. July 3, Officer Tyler Wendland met with an assault victim, as well as a relative of the victim, at GPD. The victim she had just been attacked by several women while at a local bar.

She claimed she had been hit over the head with a beer bottle, Taylor said.

Officer Gabriel Trevino later reviewed a security tape at the bar that showed the attack. Trevino was able to identify the assailant as Rebecca Gonzales Rosas, 39, of Gonzales, who had gone to Gonzales Memorial Hospital for a cut wound to the hand. After being treated and released, Rosas was transported to Gonzales County Jail and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
