GONZALES — A Cuero woman was arrested last week after police said she was caught with illegal drugs with the intention to distribute (sell) them.

Capt. Allen Taylor reported that on June 13, Sgt. J.D. Holt saw a vehicle turn without signaling in the 1500 block of St. Louis and pulled it over in the 500 block of Clark St. Holt identified the driver as Rosario Navarro, 28, of Cuero.

A background check on Navarro revealed she had a warrant for her arrest out of DeWitt County for possession of a controlled substance, Taylor said.

A subsequent search of the car led to the discovery of meth, syringes, small plastic bags for storing drugs, as well as pills that were identified as Lorazepam, Hydrocodone, Alprazolam and Amoxicillin.

Navarro was arrested and charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 over 4 grams less than 200 grams and possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 3 less than 28 grams. She was taken to Gonzales County Jail.

Shiner man jailed for drugs, illegal knife

On June 11, Officer Gabriel Trevino was parked in the 700 block of Sarah Dewitt Drive when he saw a vehicle going south on St. Joseph St. The car turned left, “peeling out,” and the officer pulled the car over — identifying the driver as David Edwin Wright, 22, of Shiner. According to the report, Wright told the officer he had “a lead foot.”

Officers said Wright appeared to be nervous, and noticed a pill bottle in the car which Wright said was Adderall (an amphetamine.) Officers also found a Bowie knife (over seven-and-a-half half inches in length and illegal in Texas.)

Wright was arrested and charged with possession of dangerous drugs and unlawful carrying weapon. He was taken to Gonzales County Jail.
