Nixon couple feuds at party, husband taken to jail

NIXON — A Nixon man was taken to Gonzales County Jail early Sunday morning after a fight with his girlfriend, officials say.

At 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Officer Devon New was dispatched to the 600 block of N. Texas St. in reference to a disturbance, Chief Mario Hernandez reported.

According to the report, a party at a private residence got out of hand when a couple got into an argument. New arrested Jonathan Colon, 27, of Nixon, whose girlfriend had told him he had had enough to drink and that she wanted him to come in, but he reportedly stayed outside with relatives, smoking synthetic marijuana.  When she went outside and confronted Colon a scuffle ensued, culminating with him striking her in the face with his fist.

Officers took Colon to the Gonzales County Jail, where he was charged with assault causing bodily injury family violence. He was later released on a $4,500 bond.
