GEDC to sponsor Capitol field trip

GONZALES — At Tuesday’s Gonzales Economic Development Corporation meeting, plans were hashed out relating to Gonzales County Day at the State Capitol in Austin on Tuesday, March 17.

Gonzales County Day is an opportunity for locals to travel to the city to meet with representatives in state government. Issues can be discussed with Gonzales County’s state representative or senator, farm and mineral leaders, or even the historical commission.

To help get folks from Gonzales to Austin, a 55-passenger bus has been rented by GDEC for the voyage.

The bus will depart from Apache Field at 6 a.m. for the Capitol. There is no charge to get on the bus and lunch will not be provided. The delegation is expected to return to Gonzales between 5:30 and 6 p.m.

On the same day, approximately 200 fourth grade choir students from Gonzales Elementary will make their own trek to the Capitol rotunda where they will sing songs for those assembled. They will not be traveling on the GEDC bus.
