Romero sentenced to 15 years

GONZALES — Randon Romero, the man convicted of multiple felony charges dating back to September 2007, was sentenced to 15 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice during April 7 proceedings before Judge W.C. Kirkendall’s 2nd 25th Judicial District Court.

Romero, 29, of Gonzales, was last arrested in Aug 2011, was charged with assault family violence impeding breathing, a third degree felony, after an alleged attack on a grieving family just a few days earlier. That charge was later dismissed.

Romero was convicted on charges of possession of a controlled substance (Sept. 20, 2007), burglary of a habitation (Sept. 22, 2009) and delivering a controlled substance (July 6, 2011).

Romero is currently in federal custody on other charges. Law enforcement officers believe is affiliated with the Texas Mexican Mafia, charged with one count each of felon in possession of a firearm or ammunition, carrying firearms during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime, and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
